Jun Wu,   DDS   MSEE   PhD

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY OF UT HOUSTON DENTAL SCHOOL

American Board Certified Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Wu received his Bachelor’s degree from University of Science and Technology of China (中国科学技术大学). He then went to U.S. and attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, where he completed a dual degree as Master of Science In Electrical and Computer Engineering and PhD in Biology.

After graduated from Purdue university, Dr.Wu worked as a research scientist in UT Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he published six journal paper in four years.

As the parent of a little dental patient, Dr. Wu realized how painful and frustrating for both young children and their parents. Dr. Wu decided to change his career path from a research scientist to a pediatric dentist. Dr. Wu went to UT dental school in Houston. After four years of hard study and followed by two years of residency training in pediatric dentistry at UT Houston, he became a dentist specialized in infants, young children, and teens. Dr. Wu is the member of  AAPD (American Association of Pediatric Dentistry) and ABPD (American Board of Pediatric Dentistry).

As a scientist and engineer, Dr. Wu applied his knowledge in dental research besides dental training.

He has developed imaging software to detect early caries in children (published in 2010). He also used SEM to investigate the protective effects of toothpastes on baby teeth (published in Dec 2016). Dr. Wu has also developed an orthodontic software to make customized arch wire for braces, which has been awarded as the First Prize Honor in UT Health Science Center at Houston Annual Research Conference.

Dr. Wu was the Research Committee of UT Dental Branch at Houston and has been awarded Dr. Donald Charles Kroeger Student Research Scholarship, Chinese American Doctors Association of Houston (CADAH) Scholarship, Mu Mu Chapter Honor Student, Dean’s Student Excellence List, and Fredrick C. Elliott Scholarship.

WENJIE YU,  DMD  MS

Advanced Education in General Dentistry
 

Dr. Yu received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) from University of Connecticut, School of Dental Medicine in Farmington, CT. She also obtained her Master of Science degree from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL with full scholarship. Dr. Yu completed her General Practice Residency in Dentistry at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, CT, and received William J. Rieger DDS Award for her superlative skills in comprehensive dentistry.

 

Dr. Yu has completed many continuing education courses through her involvement with professional organizations and volunteered in community services since dental school. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the Connecticut State Dental Association, the Hartford Dental Society and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Yu places great emphasis on patient oriented care. She is fully committed to delivering excellent care to all of our patients. 

 

Di (IVY) Wu,  DDS  MS  PhD

Assistant Professor in Pediatric dentistry of UT Houston dental school

Dr. Di Wu is a board-certified pediatric dentist and assistant professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at UTHealth School of Dentistry at Houston.

She earned her DDS and a master’s degree in endodontics from Anhui Medical University in China, followed by a PhD in dental public health from the University of Hong Kong. In 2013, she completed a master of science degree and certificate in pediatric dentistry at the University of Michigan. She joined the UTSD faculty in 2014.

Aside from her teaching activities, she is passionate about patient care and community service. She oversees undergraduate dental students during their pediatric dentistry clinical rotations and also cares for patients at UTHealth Dentistry Southwest inside the Texas Children’s Health Plan Center for Children and Women in Houston.
